Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Fieldnorm and LDAR compliance. Can't find what you're looking for? Contact support.
I recorded a leak during an inspection but it doesn't appear in Leaks & Repairs. Why?
Leak records are only created when an inspection is saved with COMPLETE status. If you saved as Draft, open the inspection, confirm the results, and re-save as Complete. Alternatively, contact your administrator to check the inspection status.
Can I add or change components on a facility after I've already run inspections?
Components can be added to a facility at any time by editing the facility record. However, editing of existing component details (tag, type) is not available through the interface in V1. New components added after previous inspections will appear in future inspection forms.
The 30-day deadline for a leak has passed. Can I back-date the repair?
Yes. When updating a leak to REPAIRED status, the Repair Date field accepts any past date. If the physical repair genuinely was completed on time but was not recorded in the system until later, enter the actual repair date. The compliance report will reflect the date you enter.
Can multiple people in my company use the same account?
V1 supports one account per company. Multiple people can share the same login credentials if needed, but there is no per-user audit trail. Multi-user team accounts (with individual logins and role-based access) are planned for V2.
Does Fieldnorm work on a phone or tablet in the field?
Yes. Fieldnorm is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA) and is optimised for mobile browsers. The inspection form is designed to be used on a smartphone during a field walkdown. Install it to your home screen from your phone's browser for an app-like experience. Note: entering inspection data requires an internet connection in V1.
My report shows a red overdue warning but I know the repair was done. What do I do?
Open the Leaks & Repairs page, find the leak (it may be in the Open Leaks section), click Update →, and set the status to REPAIRED or VERIFIED. Enter the actual repair date and repair notes. Re-generate the PDF report — the overdue flag will be gone.
Can I export inspection data to Excel or CSV?
Not in V1. The only export format is the AER D060 PDF report. CSV export of inspection and component data is planned for V2.
The app shows I have never inspected a facility that I know I inspected. What happened?
Check the Inspections page and look for a DRAFT inspection for that facility — the inspection may not have been completed and submitted. Open the inspection and click Complete Inspection to finalise it. If no inspection exists at all, it may have been recorded under a different facility or not yet entered.
How long does the PDF report take to generate?
Typically 2–5 seconds for a facility with up to 50 components and 5 inspections. Larger datasets may take 10–15 seconds. If the page times out, try again or contact support.
Is my data secure?
All data is stored server-side in a secure database. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plaintext. Sessions are managed with secure, httpOnly cookies. For production deployments, ensure the server is hosted on a secure HTTPS connection.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Click "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page and enter your account email. You will receive a reset link by email. If your administrator has not yet configured email delivery, ask them to check the server logs for the reset URL. The link expires after 1 hour.
Which provinces does Fieldnorm support?
Fieldnorm supports operators in British Columbia (BC Fugitive Emissions Management Regulation / KERMIT), Alberta (AER Directive 060 / OneStop), and Saskatchewan (Saskatchewan MER requirements). All three provinces share the same core LDAR obligations — annual inspections, 30-day repair timelines, and annual reporting — which Fieldnorm tracks natively. See the Regulatory Requirements page in these docs for province-specific details.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — Fieldnorm offers a free trial with no credit card required. Sign up and start managing your LDAR compliance in minutes.
